Hello Brushheads!  As you probably have heard, San Diego Comic-Con was this past weekend and, in addition to other news, they released a ton of cool trailers for movies and TV shows.  I’m not going to cover all of them, but I am going to give you my quick thoughts on the ones that interested me…and a couple I randomly caught.

Justice League: This actually looks quite decent.  I was really into it and thought it was great, with two minor exceptions.  The humor was decent and seems like it fit pretty well, and definitely makes up for the lack of humor in Batman v Superman.  The only parts that i’m down on are the Flash’s costume and how Cyborg looks.  They look almost like unfinished special effects, Cyborg especially.  I’m holding out hope they they look better in the finished product.  I give it a 🙂

King Arthur: Legend of the Sword: I hadn’t heard of this and wasn’t really interested in another King Arthur origin story.  The action looks decent, but it just seems to be “off”.  I probably won’t check this out.  I give it a :/

Wonder Woman:  This looks very good!  It’s a period piece, WWI or II, and it has a pretty good look.  I’m a tiny bit worried about Chris Pine, but that may just be because I just saw him in Star Trek.  Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman looks good, and I feel this has a ton of potential.  😀

Transformers: Combiner Wars:  The newest Transformer cartoon.  I just don’t know.  It does that combining of two different animation styles for characters vs background that can be quite jarring.  It seems like people are stoked for it, but it just didn’t grab me.  :/

Lego: Batman: I loved The Lego Movie, it was funny and heartfelt all at once.  This doesn’t seem even remotely as interesting.  I found Batman amusing in the Lego Movie, but I’m not sure that’s enough to lead a movie.  I’ll probably skip it.  😦

Kong: Skull Island: Giant apes, helicopters and Samuel L Jackson.  Seriously, what else do you need to sell you a movie…cause that’s all I need.  Setting it in what seems like Vietnam era is a good call, as cellphones, gps an modern inventions can take the excitement out of this kind of movie.  I’ll give it a shot. 🙂

Dr Strange: Looks like another great movie from Marvel.  I’m not really shocked at this point.  It has a great cast, some good wit, and great effects.  We’ll have to see how the story plays out.  It’ll probably be a bit basic, since it’s an origin story, but that’ll be fine.  I’m happy to finally see actual magic, rather than the “technology” of Asgard. I’ll definitely see this opening weekend. 😀

Iron Fist:  Really more of a teaser.  It shows what is probably the changes to Iron Fist’s origin, which should be fine.  It may have potential, but i’ll wait until I see some fighting before I decide if i’ll watch it.  :/

Luke Cage:  This is what i’m talking about.  It’s got some good uses of super strength and good vibe for the ‘street-level’ hero that Luke Cage is.  I’ll definitely check this out after I catch up on all the other Netflix Marvel fare.  😀

The Defenders: Speaking of teaser.  This is a teaser.  It just tells you that it’ll have some super-heroes defending NY.  Really unnecessary.  Nothing to judge other than the time I wasted clicking on it. 😦

Star Trek Discovery: This is how you make a teaser.  It may just be a long CG shot of the title spaceship, but at least it gives you something.  The CG looks decent and gives me some hope for this being good…not that i’ll pay for CBS’ service just to watch it.  Oh, and the ship is ugly!  Too angular.  It may be my least favorite official Federation ship that I’ve ever seen.  🙂

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them: A Harry Potter spin off that looks like it’s set in the 40s or 50s.  Seems kinda interesting.  Good CG and the acting show was pretty good.  I may not see it, but it is a good trailer.  🙂

Legends of Tomorrow: Season 2: Disappointingly many of the clips are from season 1, but what is new seems ok.  I’m looking forward to this anyways, as the first season was good comic fun.  It’s a good change of pace from the semi-seriousness of the Marvel shows/movies and the CW-ness of the Flash and Arrow.  🙂

That’s what I saw.  I know I missed a bunch, but those are the only ones I cared about (or was subjected to).

What are you all most looking forward to?

RAHN!
